On Saturday, July 27 at Tim Hortons Field, Forge FC matched up against HFX Wanderers FC in our Marvel Superhero Match. The Forge FC players had a heroic performance against the Wanderers, fighting for a 3-0 win and putting themselves within four points of the top of the standings. The Forge FC players were not the only ones to show out during the game.
From the start, our fans showed up early as the first 1000 fans received their Forge FC x Marvel Posters. From then on, the stadium filled up as we reached a MARVELous attendance level of 6,179, one of our highest attendance levels of the 2024 season thus far. Forge FC did not disappoint, as they created an environment where the cheering never stopped, and the fans got louder and louder throughout the game.
One player of note was Kwasi Poku, scoring a brace for himself, tying him for the league lead in goals. Along with this, Nana Ampomah had a super performance of his own scoring his first-ever CPL goal, with a screamer outside the box! This would not have been possible without our maestro of the night, David Choinière, who had 2 assists in the game. Our super performances extended past our goal contributors of the night, as Jassem Koleilat had a heroic night in goal, grabbing onto his third clean sheet of the season. FC’s defence was nothing short of heroic as well, as Alexander Achinioti-Jönsson had five interceptions, Garven Metusala had seven clearances, and Malik Owolabi-Belewu had seven total tackles.
Off the field, our friends Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Black Panther, and Spider-Man from the Avengers showed up and had an amazing time in the south plaza. This gave fans the ability to interact with their favourite Marvel characters and were able to get photos with our Marvel backdrop in the south plaza. This interactive experience gave fans the ability to enjoy themselves and make long-lasting experiences, watching their heroes on the fields and spending time with their favourite Marvel heroes off of it.
This night was nothing less than spectacular, and it was made possible by the fans of Forge FC who showed out and were heroes of their own! Join us in reliving our club’s signature moments and enjoy a full-team autograph session on the pitch following the conclusion of our Signature Match against Atlético Ottawa on Saturday, August 10 at Tim Hortons Field.
