The Forge FC players may be heroes to some, but have you ever wondered which Marvel Superheroes they most resemble? The Forge FC players had a heroic performance against Halifax Wanderers FC in our Marvel Superhero Match, fighting for a 3-0 win on Saturday, July 27, at Tim Hortons Field. As a result of this, we took the time to further highlight which members of Forge FC are most like a Marvel Superhero.
Kwasi Poku – Spider-Man
To embody the qualities of Spider-Man, who is one of Marvel’s most beloved heroes, there is a blend of traits that must be considered. These traits are a sense of responsibility, courage, agility and reflexes, along with wit and humour. Kwasi Poku embodies these traits, as can be seen first through his sense of responsibility towards the team. He scores goal after goal but not for any goal towards himself, but rather for the desire to lead his team to a championship. Along with this, Poku demonstrates courage by always making that difficult effort for the ball and continuously putting himself in situations where he is outnumbered but not outmatched. Further, Poku is always showing off his crazy reflexes and agility by out-pacing defenders, scoring acrobatic and back-heel goals, and always making sure to put himself in the right position to score. Lastly, Poku knows the right time to make his teammates laugh and crack a smile, being known as one of the jokesters on the team, and being very in touch with his sense of humour.
Chris Kalongo – Mile Morales
Similar to Spider-man, or rather Peter Parker, to embody the qualities of Miles Morales, one must demonstrate courage and determination, along with quick thinking, and enhanced agility and reflexes. On Forge FC, Christopher Kalongo embodies many of these traits, making him very similar to Miles in that sense. Kalongo demonstrates courage and determination by commanding the team from the back, and making his presence known as a keeper, even with this season being his first as the starting Goalkeeper. Along with this, Kalongo is a quick thinker in the sense that he makes quick decisions on the ball and delivers game-changing saves. Further, his agility and reflexes are constantly put on display, always finding a way to get in front of the ball and even making game-changing penalty saves, as seen in Forge FC’s recent match against Cavalry FC.
Dom Samuel – The Incredible Hulk
Embodying the qualities of Hulk requires one to have incredible strength, demonstrate physical ability, and have unexpected pace. For Dominic Samuel, he shares these qualities on the field. Samuel demonstrates incredible strength on the ball, shielding the ball from attackers and clearing the ball well. Along with this, Samuel is strong on the ball, tougher than anyone on the field, he always makes the play and steals the ball when faced with the opportunity. Further, Samuel demonstrates a rather unexpected pace on the field, outpacing players who may seem faster from an outside perspective. Samuel uses his power when he must but is able to use this to his advantage and always makes a play on the ball.
David Choiniere – Iron Man
Sharing qualities with Iron Man includes being exceptionally intelligent, resourceful, and understanding one’s sense of responsibility towards the team. David Choinière shares a lot of these aspects with the superhero, starting off with his intelligence. Choinière is very intelligent on and off the ball, as he is always getting in the right position to receive the ball and always manages to get around defenders with the ball. Along with this, Choinière demonstrates his resourcefulness as he knows exactly where to put the ball to give his teammates the best chance to score while making quick decisions and never spending more time with the ball than he has to. Further, Choinière is a team player and understands his responsibilities towards the team, being the winger they need and always creating space for the ball to move forward. Choinière has also been seen showing up to games with stylish fits and seems to have a light on him, similar to the way Tony Stark wants it.
Tristan Borges – Hawkeye
Embodying the qualities of Hawkeye requires one to be an expert marksman in their own respect, have adaptability, and be resourceful. Tristan Borges shares some of these qualities, starting with his marksmanship. Borges has a laser for a shot and is always scoring exceptional goals, scoring from outside the box on multiple occasions, and placing the ball outside of the keeper’s reach with accuracy and power. Along with this, Borges is adaptable as he understands when he needs to score, but also when he needs to assist, putting his teammates in the right positions and leading the team in assists this season (5). Further, Borges is resourceful and always uses his time on and off the ball effectively, while making his presence known all over the pitch and wherever his teammates need him.
