Player’s voice: Letters from Forge FC’s first signings

Dear fans,

We’re going to create something awesome.

Coming home is special. And I know the opportunity to play for Forge FC will be a wonderful experience.

This is about something that is going to be amazing for years and years to come.

Watching a CFL game this fall and feeling the energy at Tim Hortons Field was an amazing experience for me. I can’t wait to have that feeling when we hit the pitch.

I can’t wait to see and feel our supporters having fun and making noise. That’s what we’re going to get next year with Forge.

I’m going to be a leader for the young guys and be an example for others to look up to.

It will be important for me to get out and make connections with our fans and create a lasting relationship. We want other teams in this league to fear playing in Hamilton.

That opening match is going to be special. Walking out and hearing our fans make noise for the first time will be an unbelievable experience. I’m fired up already.

The fans at this club are already amazing. From the unveiling to the continued work by the Barton St. Battalion, this club has seen unrivaled support across the board.

I promise to be a part of a team that you, Hamilton, will be proud of.

Dear fans,

When I close my eyes, I imagine a night game under the lights at Tim Hortons Field; the fans, the cameras, the flags waving in the crowd. That first match is going to be surreal.

It’s nice to be back home. My family is proud.

They’ll be in the stands watching from Day 1 alongside the many, many supporters we have here in Hamilton.

The stadium is incredible. The way it’s nestled in a neighbourhood is fantastic. It makes it easy to call home.

I can’t wait to show you my work ethic. Whether it be in training or during games, I want to showcase my qualities: speed, skill, an ability to score.

I want to bring an element of flair to this club.

I’m looking forward to getting out to Hamilton and meeting the fans. They have already made a mark on me. I am itching to get out to Tim Hortons Field and see what the environment is going to be like.

There’s no doubt this season will be incredible.

I promise to make Forge FC into one of the top teams in the CPL.

This is about the Canadian Premier League and about Canadians in general.

When you think of the appetite and thirst for knowledge about these initial players and what our teams will look and feel like, this is massive. As I like to put it, this will help show what the DNA of our league will look like.

One of the top questions I’ve received is “Will there be young men from our regions playing on our teams?” Another big question from fans is “Will they be Canadians?” And the answer to both is a resounding yes. These guys are here because they want to play in this league. They’ve embraced the honour of playing coast-to-coast in Canada.

For me, they will forever be linked to the Canadian Premier League.
