CANADIAN SOCCER ICON ASHTONE MORGAN ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT FROM PROFESSIONAL SOCCER

After an illustrious and celebrated career, renowned Canadian soccer player Ashtone Morgan has announced his decision to retire from professional soccer. The 32-year-old left-back, whose talent and dedication have earned him widespread admiration, has decided to hang up his boots to embark on a new chapter in his life.

Morgan, 32, has had nothing short of an incredible career having won titles with various clubs and earning the chance to represent his national team of Canada. In 2022, Morgan signed for Forge FC recording one goal and two assists across 41 appearances helping the club raise the North Star Shield for the third time in 2022 and being a part of the club’s first-ever appearance in Concacaf Champions League. Prior to Forge, the defender spent two seasons with Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake, but is most well known for his ten-year stint (2010-19) with Toronto FC where he was a part of four of the club’s Canadian Championship wins (2012, 2016, 2017, 2018), and their Supporters Shield and MLS Cup winning season in 2017. Overall, he has suited up for 168 total appearances with the Toronto FC first team tallying three goals and 14 assists. Internationally, the native of Toronto, Ontario, has 18 caps for the Canadian national team after making his debut at 20 years old in 2011.

Ashtone Morgan’s retirement marks the end of an era for Canadian soccer, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire aspiring athletes for generations to come. His passion for the sport, leadership on and off the pitch, and commitment to excellence have made him a role model for young players aspiring to succeed in soccer.
