One such name is Chris Nanco, a winger whose journey from the youth level of Sigma FC, to the college fields of Syracuse University, to the professional ranks marked a significant chapter in the story of Forge FC.

Nanco’s soccer prowess was evident early on, as he earned accolades such as being named an ACC all-star during his time at Syracuse University. His ability to find the back of the net, showcased by 21 goals in 84 career games for the Orange, caught the attention of scouts and fans alike. Representing Canada at the U-17 and U-20 levels further underscored his potential as a rising star in North American soccer.

The next chapter of Nanco’s career began when he was selected 55th overall by the Philadelphia Union in the 2017 MLS draft. Although initially assigned to the Union’s USL affiliate team in Bethlehem, Nanco’s skills continued to develop, setting the stage for his eventual transition to Forge FC.

It was on November 29, 2018, that Chris Nanco, alongside Kyle Bekker, made history as Forge FC’s first-ever signings. While his individual statistics of 9 goals and 2 assists are noteworthy, Nanco’s impact extended far beyond mere numbers.

As a member of the leadership group within Forge FC, Nanco played a pivotal role in guiding the team to back-to-back championships in 2019 and 2020, solidifying the club’s status as a force to be reckoned with in Canadian soccer.
