FORGE FC ADVANCE TO 2020 CANADIAN PREMIER LEAGUE FINAL

Forge aims for back-to-back CPL Championships in Saturday’s The Island Games Final against HFX Wanderers

With a 1-0 win Tuesday over Cavalry FC, Forge FC finished the three-game Group Stage of the Canadian Premier League’s The Island Games with two wins and a draw, advancing to the Final on Saturday, September 19 at 2 p.m. EDT / 3 p.m. ADT at UPEI Artificial Turf Field in Charlottetown, PEI.

Forge FC will face HFX Wanderers FC, who have one more Group Stage match remaining tonight against Pacific FC at 8 p.m. EDT / 9 p.m. ADT. Forge and HFX Wanderers are guaranteed to finish top two in the Group Stage standings regardless of the outcome of the last game.

The winner of The Island Games Final will be crowned the 2020 Canadian Premier League Champion, awarded the North Star Shield, advance to the one-game 2020 Canadian Championship Final and earn a 2021 CONCACAF League berth.

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island is the host location for the Canadian Premier League’s 2020 season. The Island Games commenced on Thursday, August 13 with all eight (8) Canadian Premier League Clubs participating: HFX Wanderers FC, Atlético Ottawa, York9 FC, Forge FC, Valour FC, FC Edmonton, Cavalry FC and Pacific FC. All matches will be played at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) Alumni Turf Field.
